If you need an auto loan, get a bad credit auto loan or sub-prime auto loan. You will pay a higher interest rate due to your bad credit but if you pay on time you will be re-building your credit. It takes time to raise your score just stay on track with your payments. Good luck.

I have bad credit. I am 23 y/o. When I was 18 y/o I was on a phone plan and it got put forward to a debt collection agency. I paid it off. But I have an outstanding electricity bill with synergy and it’s under $500 but it got put forward to credit agency and I know this because I called them and they told me. But apart from that it can’t be from anything else except my phone plan which I have paid off. If I have paid it off in installments which I have can it still give me bad credit? Or can you only get bad credit if you have an amount owing? And is it true if I ring the company / companies and pay the owing amount that I can get it taken off my credit? Please someone help me. I just want good credit. Also I am in Australia if that helps.

I want to repair my bad credit and have been doing some research on some of these credit repair companies. They all sound to good to be true! The majority of the items are old accounts, nothing major like a BK or Forclosure.

Everybody wants you to go to xyz company. It took you awhile to get bad credit and it will take you a while to repair it. It is very simple pay off your bad accounts or bring up to date. There is no magic way to do it. You can’t just get bad credit erased. You gotta be honest and pay your bills. Here’s how to start fixing up your credit:

1. Get your credit report and make sure everything on it is accurate. If there’s fraudulent charges and accounts on there, you can have them removed by contacting the credit report company. You may have to do it in writing- but it’s worth it to get that junk off your report.

2. Pay off all your old debts. Anything that’s on your credit report. If the debt is in collections, call them and ask them if they will accept less than what you owe. They may be willing to make a deal- collecting some money from you is better than collecting none. If they don’t want to make a deal, maybe they will set you up with a payment schedule.

3. Stay current on all of your accounts. Pay everything on time. I mean everything. Rent, car payment, credit card, phone bill, power bill, student loan. Those can all show up on your report.

4. If you have more than three credit cards, cancel them! Have no more than 3 credit cards and no more than $20,000 total in charge limits. Don’t have any of those crummy secured credit cards. They are actually bad for your credit rating. So are check-cashing or paycheck advance places.

5. Other things that can show up on your credit report and give you bad credit include bounced checks, repossessed property, evictions, and criminal charges.

6. If worst comes to worst and you feel like declaring bankruptcy, remember that it will follow you around for seven years. You won’t be able to get a decent rate on anything, might not be able to get an apartment, and might even have a harder time getting a job. So save bankruptcy for the last resort.

It’s a lot of hard work. But believe me, when you send off that last payment you are going to feel like so relieved to be free of your bad debts. Having good credit opens a lot of doors for you. It’s worth it to stay on top of your finances.

My wife got very sick and we lost half of our income. My bills got behind so my credit score suffered. She is going to need a lot of medical equipment and I need good credit to buy it. I have heard of bad credit report repair firms, but don’t know of any.

I had great luck with these guys. My fico score went from 580 to 720 in 10 months. I had a great job and lost it so I could not keep up with my payments so my credit score suffered. There are a lot of people who say that this do not work, but for me with these guys it did. Good luck, I know how hard this can be on a family.
